Synopsis
Live follows the men and women of the Hongil Patrol Division at the Western Seoul Police Department — the officers on the front lines who deal with the messiest, most thankless calls the city has to offer. Yeom Sang-soo (Lee Kwang-soo) is an ordinary man who joins the police force straight out of military service, hoping to secure a stable place in the mainstream of society. Instead, he becomes a walking magnet for misfortune — every case he touches seems to go sideways, and he constantly clashes with his superiors. Han Jung-oh (Jung Yu-mi) is a fiercely determined female officer fighting to be taken seriously in a workplace thick with male chauvinism. She refuses to back down, even when the job makes that impossible. Oh Yang-chon (Bae Sung-woo) is a former star detective of the Violent Crimes Unit, rapidly promoted for his sharp instincts — until one unexpected incident derails his career and gets him demoted to the patrol division, where he has to rebuild from the bottom. The series weaves together the joy, sorrow, absurdity, and quiet heroism of police life — the domestic disputes at 2 a.m., the petty crimes no one cares about, the moments of genuine connection with strangers, and the weight of trying to protect justice in a system that often works against itself.
